Readers Notes: Well, I'll be damned if I didn't have so many mic issues through this. There is some static that starts about 40 minutes into the reading. I hope it's not too distracting. Still a quality read, imo, if you can get past that.
Summary: Stiles cannot love, because it isn't something he can touch. The closest he's ever felt, by his recollection, has been when he held someone else's life in his hands. With one last gasping breath, their blood covering his hands, Stiles believed that what he felt deep within him was, in fact, love. It was adoration, in a way. A connection that could not be undone, could never be severed. Ending a life brought a rush unlike anything Stiles had ever felt, or would feel, of that he was certain.

This is just a little post to let you all know that I have retired from making podfic.

I am no longer going to record fics. I'm just too tired of all the hateful messages and unsolicited criticism. It's no longer fun anymore.

I've spent hundreds and hundreds of hours making podfics and it kills my spirit every time I get hate.

So I'm not going to spend one more second doing something that no longer gives me joy. I'm quitting now so that I don't rage quit fandom all together. I still want to enjoy fic and my friends. I still want to archive and listen to podfic and get joy from it.

To the authors that I've asked for permission, I'm so very sorry I never got to make your thing. Thank you so much for being open to podfic and giving me and others the opportunity to record your work.

To my auction winners who are due podfic. I will be paypal'ing you a refund as soon as my tax return gets to me in a few weeks time. I'm really sorry I couldn't fulfill those for you.

Woke up today to a sour comment on my last project from

JAK_in_the_box:

"Some mispronounced words, and it was disconcerting to hear certain scenes done in what I think of as the Harlequin Romance Sex Scene Voice, the soft husky drawl you use, but you seem to use that voice for everything outside of story notes. I had to skip parts because of that. You sound totally different when you do readers notes."

The comment made me a little mad. I messaged my beta listener (

jsea) who assured me that I pronounced everything correctly. She surely would have caught the mispronuncations on one of her four complete listen throughs. The only thing that could be construed as wrong is the witch chant that is used through out. At one point, myself and two other people (I think you were in on this

piscaria) tried to figure out how to say it, so I eventually went to the author for her input and what you hear in the podfic, is what she settled on. So I'm a bit hurt that this accusation is out there that I didn't put enough care into my project to make sure that my words were pronounced correctly. Of coarse, they could be from a different country then me though....

What gets me here is the idea that it's something to rip me apart about, that I use a narrative/reading voice. I admit I do. Over the last year, I've developed my reading style. Let it evolve into what it is naturally. It's the way I'm comfortable narrating. I connect to the words better when I'm giving a performance. In essence, when I podfic, I'm acting. If all actors just used their own voice, everything would be quite boring, I think. When I get anons and comments like this damning the way I read, it hurts. My story notes are me talking. So of coarse they are going to sound different. Because I'm not performing that bit.

Le sigh. I'm so very unhappy about this comment. I didn't know what to say to the person because I wanted to rip their face off and piss in their mouth...but instead I just said, "Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. <3". I didn't want them to win, I didn't want them to have the satisfaction of breaking me. Is it possible the only consolation is that they didn't say it anonymously? So now I know what to expect when I see their name from here on out. (BTW, they have another one of my projects bookmarked;) and have zero contributions to fandom whatsoever.)

Well in a weird way they won a little bit. I had plans to record today, but instead I just went back to bed. I'm just so angry about this shit. I wanna rage.

In the last year, I've gotten quite a bit of anon hate (and some of you have listened to my meta about it) and it's always made me feel really crummy. I can count on one hand how many anon love messages I've gotten. So my challenge would be to go to as many tumblrs, journals, fanworks as you can and leave an anonymous love message/comment. Don't do it for credit, points, to complete the challenge. Do it for the satisfaction you'll get from making someone's day. Do it because you know what it's like to get an anonymous message from someone telling you how much your work means to them. Pay them a compliment because you WANT to, because you're compelled to. Do it for the sheer joy of others, and not for any recognition of your own. Don't even check in to say you did it. Just, do it. And hopefully you'll get some anonymous love too.

Let's rid fandom of anon hate, by overloading it with anon love.
