Winter Solstice present for my friend Jess

I've never been a fan of Xmas time. I'm an atheist, so I don't celebrate the birth of Christ. My good friend Jess is Jewish, so she doesn't do Xmas either. But gift giving is fun, so I'm just going to stamp this present with a Happy Winter Solstice tag.

I made a thing.

I was chatting with my homie [livejournal.com profile] castmeaway and decided to send her a poem. I recorded this on my iPhone in Voice Memos and sent it as an iMessage. I did it in one take, so there is no editing. My plosive breaths are included in all of their glory.

This was my father's favorite poem. If by Rudyard Kipling. When my dad died he had very few possessions, but one of his cherished items was this poem.
